The Monkees’ 'Good Times!' to be reissued for band’s 60th anniversary

The 60th anniversary of The Monkees is being celebrated with an expanded edition of the band’s 2016 studio album, Good Times!

Good Times! (10th Anniversary Deluxe Edition), dropping May 29, will include the original album, plus previously unreleased instrumental versions of each song and four rare session outtakes.

Released to commemorate the band’s 10th anniversary, Good Times! reunited then-surviving Monkees members Micky Dolenz, Michael Nesmith and Peter Tork, and featured a posthumous contribution from Davy Jones, who passed away in 2012.

“Working on Good Times! was an extraordinary experience. None of us could have imagined that nearly 50 years after our last Top 20 record, we’d be back there again with a new Monkees album. That means a lot,” says Dolenz, who is the last surviving member of The Monkees. “Mike, Peter, and I had a wonderful time making that record, and I have no doubt Davy’s spirit was right there with us. We really did have a good time.”

The reissue will be released as a two-CD set, and digitally for the first time. It will also be released as part of Rhino Reserve’s audiophile vinyl series.

Good Times! featured songs written specifically for the group by artists like Weezer’s Rivers Cuomo, Death Cab for Cutie’s Ben Gibbard, Oasis’ Noel Gallagher and more. It also featured older material penned by artists like Carole King, Neil Diamond and Harry Nilsson. The album peaked at #14 on the Billboard 200 Albums chart.
