"The Snow Queen" was written in (1844) by Hans Christian Andersen, a Danish author, is actually a seven-part fairy tale focusing on the struggle between good and evil, specifically innocent love versus cold, rational cruelty. The Snow Queen Musical (Book by Kirsten Brandt and Rick Lombardo Music by Haddon Kime Lyrics by Kirsten Brandt, Haddon Kime and Rick Lombardo Additional Music by Rick Lombardo) captures the story in two acts. After a demon's magic mirror shatters, shards lodge in a boy named Kai’s heart and eye, making him bitter and cold. The Snow Queen kidnaps him to her northern palace, leading his devoted friend, Gerda, on a dangerous, heroic, journey to rescue him.
